Calling Mobile Cloud REST Service from Oracle JET. Let's take a look how we can consume REST service exposed from Mobile Cloud Service (MCS). I will show how you could display data coming from MCS endpoint in Oracle JET. I will be using simple scenario in this post, based on HTTP Basic authentication method offered by MCS. In my next post I plan to review more advanced authentication described in this article - Hybrid Mobile Apps: Using the Mobile Cloud Service JavaScript SDK with Oracle JET.

Oracle MCS with ADF BC REST Connector. We already learned how to deploy and access ADF BC REST services from Oracle Java Cloud - ADF BC REST 12.2.1.0 Running Live in Oracle Java Cloud. It's time to see how ADF BC REST can be consumed by Oracle Mobile Cloud Service (MCS). In my point of view, key benefit of MCS is ability to simplify Web Service access for mobile clients, by aggregating these Web Services from different sources and simplifying them. I will try to describe it in very structure way, how to define MCS interface based on ADF BC REST.

ADF BC REST 12.2.1.0 Running Live in Oracle Java Cloud. It passed almost two years since my previous post about Oracle Java Cloud and ADF - End-To-End ADF Cloud Deployment Process. There is huge improvement in Oracle Cloud, great progress done in these two years by Oracle. Access and management of Oracle Cloud environment is so smooth now, it is even hard to say you are working with your own on premise servers or cloud machines. This is great, I'm impressed - well done Oracle.

Accessing Oracle Mobile Cloud Service (MCS) REST from Postman. Do you want to test on your environment REST service running on Oracle MCS cloud? I have implemented public REST services hosted on Oracle MCS, you can call it from Postman application (Google Chrome extension).

End-To-End ADF Cloud Deployment Process. ADF and ADF BC perfectly runs on Oracle Java Cloud. You could deploy regular ADF application straight away from familiar JDeveloper environment without any hassle. With this blog post I would like to walk through the process of migrating DB model to the cloud and deploying ADF application (enabled with ADF Security) to the cloud.

LOV for Editable Primary Key in ADF Table Problem. Probably every ADF developer at least ones was facing this problem - creating LOV for editable primary key attribute rendered in ADF table. Very often database design is based on business key and there is requirement to create LOV for that key. Unfortunately ADF doesn't handle this case well - LOV defined for editable key in the table is unstable. There are different workarounds, but all of them with the side effects. The best workaround is to fix database design and introduce surrogate key for the table - but in practice is hardly possible, no one wants to change DB design, especially if it works well in Oracle Forms.

My ADF Sample Apps Live in Oracle Java Cloud. With Oracle Java Cloud available for ADF PS5 deployments, I decided to deploy all my future ADF sample apps from the blog in Oracle Cloud, source code will be provided as well as it was up till now. ADF sample applications live will help to explain and present ADF functionality even better, blog readers will be able to test described functionality straight away and provide feedback without downloading and running on their machines. Currently I'm running trial instance of Oracle Cloud for database and Java, but in future I plan to purchase permanent account - let's see how it will go.
